"Waah, I was drunk, pleese forgive me".
As a former lawyer would you not rip that arguement apart in court ?
Your conduct was not befitting of one who apparently represents the community.
CCP need to act and rid us of this pompous jester who clearly believes he is above the rules of the game. |

CCP need to act and rid us of this pompous jester who clearly believes he is above the rules of the game. Would you care to point out where he begged for forgiveness? Oh that's right he didn't.
Irrespective, his conduct was still unbefitting of a figurehead who supposedly represents the eve community. The fact this incident is now being reported by certain media just highlights how his boorish and unaceptable conduct has tainted the community. |

With any luck and by the letter of the law CCP will act and it will not be his choice to make. The line was crossed. |

Dar Saleem wrote:After reading his tweets, I have to retract my comment that I dont think the apology was sincere. I now believe that it was actually a sincere apology. Doesnt change the fact that he should stand down or be removed as head of CSM.
He is actually starting to go up in respect level by not blaming the booze As a community figurehead he should never have put himself in the position he did. Regardless this does not excuse what transpired. I am disgusted and if CCP do not act then clearly it might be suggested that some are granted leverage to operate outwith the terms of the EULA without sanction. |

If CCP do not act then for their sake I sincerely hope that Sony do not get wind of the fact that an eve community representative has actively encouraged the harassful persuit of a player in game who has exuded mental problems or vulnerabilities.
I am certain these are not the kind of "gaming ideals" they would encourage as "entertainment" with Eve Online soon being connected to the Playstation Network.

I don't care if some depressed miner somewhere in the world did or did not commit suicide, and I fail to see what The Mitanni drunk-spewing words out of his mouth at Fanfest has to do with this man's mental state. Why is there a thread about this and not a thread about things that actually matter and are terrible, for example, the chaos and violence in The Gaza Strip? Representatives from Sony Entertainment might disagree with you. Maybe if they get wind of this it might open their eyes to what sort of individuals who are deemed as figureheads of the eve community they are about to within time "expose" to their existing network playerbase. |

The Line was Crossed. I'm most certain Sony is meeting AS WE TYPE. IF CCP takes no action to their satisfaction, you may as well kiss that uber-cool EVE/DUST Link good-bye. It matters not what the Goons think, or what the rest of the players think at this point. This is exactly the type of thing that brings businesses down. And we only need to look back 10 months to remember JUST HOW FRAGILE CCP REALLY IS. I'd be real worried about playing EVE on any long term basis depending on how this turns out. I don't think Sony Entertainment would want to advertise connections with Eve Online Community Figureheads who encourage others to harass those with mental difficulties? I think not Sir. Your sarcasm has no place here. The Line was Crossed. |

L00B wrote:Also you people think Sony cares about what people think...... hilarious! Let me tell you about a little game called Star Wars Galaxies.... They would care if somebody committed suicide based on the actions that other players influenced in-game, out of game, especially since that game is soon to be added to their existing network. I am sure that this is the type of publicity Sony would want since they are a family brand yeah? |

Nothing can excuse what transpired.
He has embarrassed himself, embarrassed CCP and has made a mockery of the rest of the Eve Playerbase.
Given the soon to be connection between Dust 514 and Eve Online, I can only imagine any Sony Representative watching the conduct of the CSM Chairman would have been mortified.
How can this man go foward saying he represents the best interests of the community? |

Since he was re-elected that means he was in the position long enough to know what conduct is acceptable and what is not. An apology therefore does not cut the mustard. His vile conduct was not representative of the eve community. |

Saying sorry is something you do when you don't pull out soon enough, when you **** up this bad, action is required.
Lastly, back to CCP, where the **** is your response to this? What is there to think about or consider? Is there any other option for you than to publicly condone this abhorrent jackass of a person? Will you continue to keep him at your side? You should have kicked him from fanfest right then and there for making such a comment. How do you feel knowing that there are thousands of players defending him? Will you let that temper your response? CCP is not going to disenfranchise the 10,000+ accounts that voted for him. Anybody sensible knows that will not happen. You mean the 10,000+ accounts that he ordered / commanded to vote for him. Democracy at its finest. |

CSM Chairman has exposed himself as unfit for position. A verified cyber bully has no place emboldening it upon themselves, elected or otherwise to claim that they represent the best interests of the eve online community.

Apology aside, what is done cannot be undone. It took several days for an apology to materialise. During this time all the community received to questions regarding conduct were arrogant scoffs and derisive sneers coupled with tired old belligerent internet memes from those pro goon, desperate to erect a "smokescreen".
That is until the fanfest alcohol subsided and the gravity and magnitude of what had transpired began to fully sink in as did pro goon awareness that more damage control measures were required as the media began to sit up and smell the beans.
There is enough evidence here in the midst to consequentially suggest the player base is not being adequately represented by a party fit for office. The eve player community has been made a mockery off.

The EVE community makes enough of a mockery of itself, it's as horrible - if not more so - than that of any other mainstream MMO. A community overall is one thing, but when the Chairperson puts on a show like that; which quite frankly would not have looked out of place transpiring in a medieval castle feast room with mittens dancing in a jester outfit for the crowd as the boar slowly roasts on the spit; then serious questions have to be asked about responsibilities. Any Sony Official watching that would have been mortified and aghast at what the innocent on the PS3 network might soon be exposed to. |
